Job Description

Rapid7 is looking for a world-class Engineering Services / Release Engineer to join our team in Cambridge, MA. This position will be responsible for producing and delivering complete installation and update packages for the Metasploit line of products, working closely with both front-line developers and quality assurance teams.

The Engineering Services / Release Engineering team is a high profile group that plays a critical role in our organization. The team works cross-functionally with various engineering departments (Development, Quality Assurance, and Documentation, etc.) to ensure timely release of multiple products in a fast-paced environment. SCM/Release Engineering also interacts with organizations outside Engineering, such as Customer Support and Operations, to evolve and maintain a robust production environment.

Responsibilities Linux system administration Installing/provisioning Microsoft Windows (desktop and server editions) TCP/IP network configuration and management Advanced source code management experience with Subversion or Git Journeyman familiarity with the Ruby programming language. Virtual machine management with VMWare, Citrix Xen, or KVM Experience as a release or devops engineer for a major software application Ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment Ability to prioritize work in the face of competing demands Desire to constantly expand technology skill set

Required Skills and Experience Help create requirements and designs for Configuration Management/Release Engineering systems and implement CM/Release Engineering improvement plans Write and develop automation tools to enhance integration between cross-functional engineering teams. Support engineering plans and schedules by providing CM/Release Engineering services to build, deploy, develop scripts, oversee branch and merge strategies, and build automated tools as necessary to offer services to engineering teams Manage and maintain customer-accessible product license and software update servers Work with IT staff to evolve and maintain an effective infrastructure, validate disaster recovery capabilities, and ensure compliance with release-to-production SLA’s Collaborate and communicate effectively with peers, management, external vendors, and other interested parties to meet business goals

Not Required, Strong Plus Experience using Ruby for system administration Source code management with Git and Mercurial Devops and devops tools - especially Chef Experience in other scripting languages, such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc. Continual integration/continuous delivery Maintaining communications with remote teams Agile/Scrum development methodologies Jenkins/Hudson build system Windows system administration Working in a fast-paced software startup environment Experience with information security

All candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information security, or software engineering. All candidates must be able to legally work in the United States.
