We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the talented engineering team to help launch a new Rapid7 offering. We are looking for a software engineer to join us at our growing Austin office. As a software engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, implementation and support of any number of core components of our system. A solid understanding of security assessment would be great, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with strong programming skills and the ability to learn new things fast. You will work closely with a cross-functional team including Product Management, Quality Assurance, Documentation, Development and UXD. You should have proven experience in anticipating customer needs.
Job Responsibilities:

Be a contributing member of a cross-functional team in charge of delivering new features on a 1.0 product Interact with product owners and customers to understand the requirements before building a new feature Participate with scrum team to plan and execute on a team built on agile values Drive towards delivery of those commitments throughout the iteration and raise risks early Develop, unit-test, and debug code in line with Rapid7’s standards and processes Participate in code reviews, test plan reviews, and doc reviews Be open to learning new technologies and new problem domains

Job Qualifications:

Demonstrated mastery of OOP and design patterns Demonstrated English language communication skills, both written and spoken. Experience testing your own code with automated test frameworks Demonstrated experience collaborating with product owners, customers and stakeholders to build software that meets customer needs Proven experience in problem-solving with little supervision Strong and broad Java core technical knowledge Knowledge of relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) Databases Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or comparable experience/knowledge of fundamentals
