The Scene is a concept we came up with to help create a voice for the San Diego tech community. This is a place to share what you’re working on, who your looking for, insider tips, relevant articles, shamelessly promote your startup, request follows, and more. The Scene is community-driven, so it will only work if you participate and submit content. We’ve taken the “lean” approach here, so please forgive us if its not perfect. Please discuss your likes, dislikes, and thoughts on how to improve in the comment section of this post. We can’t wait to make improvements, but we want the community to tell us what to build next.

Submitted stories will be curated by our team and will be posted on a first come, first serve basis. We will post between 5 - 10 new stories every day, but most posts will likely be published within 24 hours. The more you share, the louder the San Diego voice grows; attracting more angels, VCs, founders, and talent. We all already know that San Diego is a great place to live, let’s make it an amazing place to start a company too.

    Steve Tomlin here. I’m a local VC in San Diego, with Avalon Ventures. We focus primarily on seed/early-stage start-ups. I’ll be following the chatter here and may participate from time-to-time. SD really needs a forum like this to discuss the start-up scene. So let’s get the party started.

    Craig Lauer here. Love the concept. SD needs a virtual water cooler where startups can get connected with each other. How do we preserve the feel of the community in the early days? Will it be hackernews type algorithms (reputation, etc) or human curation (naval style)? Nice work guys.
