StockTwits is looking for engineers to join our Web team. The Web team maintains the StockTwits.com features and experience. StockTwits is one of the fast growing web properties among the finance industry. You should be an experienced engineer that knows about maximizing the web, browser performance, and JavaScript to help us improve the site for users.

You will need to be familiar with jQuery, Node.js, HAML, and Ruby. We value people who can learn new technologies and concepts fast. You’ll also need to enjoy working and living in sunny San Diego.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain code (Ruby, JavaScript, HTML and CSS)
• Code using primarily Javascript and Ruby
• Write well-tested, maintainable code
• Identify and fix performance issues
• Rapidly fix bugs and solve problems
• Pro-actively look for ways to make StockTwits better for users

Requirements

• B.S. or higher in Computer science or equivalent
• Demonstrable experience building world-class, consumer web applications
• Expert JavaScript/HTML/CSS coding skills
• Excellent programming skills in Ruby, Scala and/or Java
• Experience in web performance optimization
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative environment
• Great debugging and reasoning skills

Pluses

• Experience with A/B testing
• Experience in data analytics
• Demonstrated contributions to open-source software
• Active user of StockTwits
• Interested in stock trading and or finance
